Lawsuit Filed for Paulding Plane Crash

- March 27, 2008

The wife of one of the six men who were killed in a plane crash that occurred in February in Paulding County, GA recently filed a suit.

The suit blames the pilot of the plane for failing to control the plane during the landing.

Plane Crashes Upon Landing

According to reports, the plane took off from Polk County Airport and was being flown by pilot John Wesley Rakestraw.

The plane was set to land in the morning and witnesses claim they saw it come out of the clouds near Mt.Airy/Surry County Airport.

Reports say the plane was descending rapidly and made a hard left turn at the end of the runway before it slammed down in a residential area.

Wife Files Suit

Louise Ruggiero has filed a suit on behalf of her late husband, Frank Ruggiero, 52, who was killed when the Raytheon C90A crashed.

“We believe that the pilot was negligent in maintaining operational control of the plane, causing it to crash,” explained Gary C. Robb, the attorney representing Ruggiero.

The other men killed in the crash were Robert Butler, Harold T. Echols, Tony Gunter and Steve Simpson.

“The most important thing is that we feel that this was a horrible tragedy,” stated Robb. “All of the families involved, not just the Ruggiero family, are devastated.”
