Lawsuit Filed By Mourning Mother

August 8, 2007 -

A mother in mourning is seeking compensation for the loss of her daughter due to fatal plane crash.

The suit claims the plane crash caused agony and life-changing loss due to negligence.

Fatal Crash

The single-engine plane took off from Natchez-Adams County Airport in Mississippi and was headed to Wichita Falls.

However, not long after take off, the plane unexpectedly crashed.

Aboard the plane were two 10-year-old girls, Jessi Marie Harris and Victoria Ranae Spiers, Carmen Hastings, Victoria's mother and Jessi's grandfather, Vincent J. Lewis III who was flying the plane.

Hastings was the only person to survive the crash and says she is now forced to carry with her injuries and a loss that will affect her the rest of her life.

Lawsuits Filed

Two civil suits have been filed in relation to the crash.

Hastings has filed a suit against Robert D. Cook and Robert Cook and Associates Inc, the owners of the plane and Marlene D. Lewis, who represents the Vincent Lewis Estates.

Both suits claim the crash has caused pain, expenses and a mother's loss that cannot be described nor replaced.

This past week the family of Jessi Marie Harris joined the Hastings suit and filed on behalf of their lost child.

Suit Claims

The suits not only name Robert D. Cook and Robert Cook and Associates Inc., but they also list the unknown parties involved in the plane's manufacturing and maintenance.

Both lawsuits claim the defendants were negligent in the servicing and inspecting of the plane.
